Y. Karen Zheng is the George M. Bunker Professor and an Associate Professor of Operations Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management. She is a leading scholar in agricultural value chain innovation, with active research and field collaboration to help improve smallholder farmers’ welfare through AI-driven value chain optimization and transparency. Karen collaborates with both public and private partners on the ground to ensure that her research leads to positive impacts in practice. Her recent research focuses on analyzing the design and impact of digital platforms to enable efficient physical supply chains in resource-constrained environments, as well as leveraging information transparency to drive positive behaviors in the domain of environmental and social responsibility. Karen holds undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Tsinghua University in China and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.
