RE-INCITE is a transnational project within the Interreg Alpine Space program that aims to advance the implementation of circular value creation in the Alpine region. The focus is on converting industrial residues into secondary materials (SM) in order to reduce CO₂ emissions and reduce dependence on primary raw materials.
Objective
Many Alpine regions have already developed strategies for circular value creation, but face challenges in their practical implementation. Individual companies often view their value chains and waste streams as optimized and see SMs as having higher costs compared to primary materials. This is where RE-INCITE comes in: by integrating clusters as knowledge brokers and multipliers, companies and municipalities are intended to be made aware of the advantages of circular value creation and encouraged to rethink.
Project approach
RE-INCITE overcomes previous hurdles by focusing on local residue supplies and the demand for SMs. Industry experts from participating clusters share their specific knowledge with local and regional authorities. The aim is to establish a new, cross-sector and cross-border governance model that serves as a model for connecting clusters and municipalities and supports the implementation of regional strategies for circular value creation.
Pilot regions
The cities of Stuttgart (Germany), Basel (Switzerland), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and other partner municipalities act as model regions to test and implement innovative approaches to circular value creation.
